Virginia Woolf's Orlando is a 400 year long epic with a gender transformation at the approximate halfway point. starting in the late Elizabethan era this costume designed for the the mid 1700's given that the character of Orlando is at this point fairly recently back from the middle east dyes colours such as red feature prominently due their increased locational availability.
